Hello everyone! I’m Hugo Pergent, a surf instructor in Capbreton, originally from the southwest of France, having grown up between the Landes and the Basque Country. Surfing has been an integral part of my life since the age of 5. Today, I can proudly say that the surf spots of the Landes hold no secrets for me.
My global adventure (Bali, Reunion Island, Mexico...) in search of the perfect wave eventually brought me back to surf in Capbreton, a place close to my heart. My professional journey began at a young age as a lifeguard on the lively beaches of the Basque and Landes coast, before diving into the world of surfing by working in one of the largest surf shops in Europe, located in Soorts-Hossegor. These experiences gave me solid expertise in surf equipment, enabling me to choose the best gear for my surf school in the Landes (boards, lycras, wetsuits...).
Teaching surfing in the Landes became an obvious choice and my true passion after earning my BPJEPS State Certification in Surfing through the French Surfing Federation. With experience gained from working in several surf schools, I have taught hundreds of surf lessons in Capbreton, other parts of the Landes, and even on Reunion Island. Wanting to focus on a project that truly reflects who I am, Yougotothebeach Surf School (named after my nickname) was born—a place dedicated to surf education and the passion it inspires.
I am patient, attentive, and enthusiastic, always ready to push my students beyond their usual limits with absolute safety. For me, surfing in Capbreton is more than just a sport—it’s a way to challenge yourself with the utmost confidence. My goal is to provide you with personalized guidance, whether in group surf lessons or private surf lessons in the Landes, to turn your surfing experience into unforgettable moments.
